Do we need an even smaller USB flash drive or memory card standard? MMC Association thinks so since they just debuted miCARD, adding yet another choice to a bewildering array of mobile data interfaces. The miCARD sports dual interfaces, one of which mirror that of a standard MMC pin while the other provides directly connectivity to a USB 2.0 port. There's a distinct difference between this and Sandisk's SD/USB offering introduced back in 2005. With the Sandisk, you just fold back one half to reveal the USB connector. However, the miCARD requires you to remove the USB stick from the MMC adapter, which means one more thing to keep track of when on the road. The USB dongle has an area 40% smaller than a miniSD. The idea of all these is to make use of every mini-meter of space. Pretec is the first company to embrace miCARD with its S-Diamond series with capacity ranging from 128MB to 8GB. Theoretical max. limit is 2048GB or 2TB. About Everything USB
