Microsoft's Athletic Notebook Mouse 3000

  August 29th, 2005

Ah, a visually appealing mouse that won't perform as badly as the S+ark Mouse did; coming soon from Microsoft is the Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. Modeled after a tennis shoe with its blue and gray highlights, this tiny mouse packs a 1,000-dpi punch 6,000 times a second to deliver a higher accuracy than that found in traditional notebook mice.

The mouse also borrows some traits from its larger siblings in the form of rubber side grips, a fully-functional tilt wheel, and a thumb button that’s set by default to magnify the screen - a real bonus for users of the smaller 12” laptops out there. Unfortunately the mouse is tied down by its corded USB interface, but hey at least you don’t have to buy batteries!

Since Microsoft has not officially released the product all we can do is guesstimate the price and ship date from 3rd-party e-tailers, which looks to be around $30 as early as next week.
