Orange Micro to Finally Ship Hi-Speed USB/FireWire CardBus

  December 31st, 1969

After some hype from Orange Micro that there might be a Hi-Speed USB/FireWire combo last year, there hasn’t been any sign of a similar product releasing by another company. Today, the same company that had promised to deliver the first dual-interfaced CardBus solution said it will ship the product next month. Equipping with a rare combination of a 4-pin unpowered FireWire port, a 6-pin FireWire port and two Hi-Speed USB ports, the OrangeCombo has a MSRP of $119, and comes with video editing software, a Hi-Speed USB cable, a 4-pin to 6-pin FireWire cable, a 12V power supply, and cross-platform drivers. When all ports are in use, most likely the power supply must be connected for undisturbed operations. Drivers will support Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP and MacOS 10.2. Orange Micro also happens to be the same company that writes all the 3rd party USB 2.0 drivers on the market.
