Canon announces low-cost USB S450 printer

The S450 Color Bubble Jet Printer with new dual print head design increases speeds and enables fast monochrome output at up to 10ppm and up to 7ppm (pages per minute) high quality color printing performance.

With the latest Drop Modulation Technology, advancement in Bubble Jet technology, the S450 is able to print at 1440 x 720 dpi color quality. It is also the first to use Canon's new ``e'' series ink tanks that increases optical density and produces printout with brighter colors and richer blacks. The Canon Think Tank System saves money by eliminating waste in allowing users to replace the ink tank color which has been depleted and includes an advanced optical low-ink sensor technology which monitors the ink levels through optical detection and dot counting which alerts users when the supply of any color ink is low.

Other key features of the S450 printer include built-in Universal Serial Bus (USB) and parallel connectivity for compatibility with both Windows and Macintosh computers. The S450 comes with a new industrial look with duo-tone color as well as a 20 percent decrease in body volume.

At only 45dB, it offers extremely quiet operation and the printer's new paper roller and automatic sheet feeder (ASF) has been improved for optimum ease-of-use operation. For just an extra $69, the Canon IS-32 Color Image Scanning Cartridge easily replaces the print cartridge to instantly transform the S450 printer into a 720 dpi color sheet fed scanner.

The S450 is compatible with both Windows and Macintosh computers. It includes Canon Photo, Office Ready, Text bridge Pro, Print Master SE, and American Greetings CreataCard SE and comes with a one-year limited warranty with Canon's SelectExchange program comes with a two-year limited hardware warranty.
