ADS Technologies has announced their USB video capture device, the USB Instant DVD.

Like Creative Video Blaster MovieMaker, USB Instant DVD is ADS's answer to a consumer device which converts video from external sources (VHS, camcorder, DVD player and laser disc) to their PC in several high quality formats, including DVD, MPEG2, MPEG1, VCD and SVCD. The USB Instant DVD allows for framerates of 25fps PAL and 29.97fps NTSC and up to 720x576 PAL/720 x 480 NTSC resolutions.

"For the first time consumers can utilize MPEG2 technology at full resolution," said Mike McCoy, president of ADS Technologies, Inc. "Compressing video to DVD format gives users the freedom to create or archive their movies at a smaller file size and easily share by means of the Internet, or burning DVDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs or Video-CDs without sacrificing the quality of video or audio."

The USB Instant DVD will be packaged with a 6 foot USB cable, audio & video connection cables, DC power unit and a rather hefty software package consisting of: Ulead VideoStudio 5 (Full Version), MyDVD 3.0 Real time DVD to CD-RW or DVD-R (Full version), Sonic Foundry's Sound Forge XP, Sonic Foundry's Acid Style, and Microsoft Media Player 7.

USB Instant DVD will be available September 2001 and priced around $229.99. This is the second USB video solution announced by the comapny, following the release of USB Instant Video.
