Plextor has announced their first portable USB 2.0 CD-RW drive, the PlexWriter 8/8/24U.
USB 2.0 connectable and capable of speeds up to 8x8x20x (write/re-write/read) and with Plextor's BURN-proof. Connected to USB 1.1 bus, users write/re-write/read at 4x4x6x, the typical speed for USB 1.1 burners.
"With the new PlexWriter 8/8/24U drive, both business "road warriors" and consumers on the move can now record custom CDs or backup files from any USB-enabled computer located anywhere. With plug and play simplicity and the convenience of hot-plug/unplug capabilities, this portable CD-RW drive makes transferring and storing data much faster and easier from any location."
Supporting Windows 98/ME/2000/XP and MacOS 8.6 for USB 1.1 and MacOS X for USB 2.0, the PlexWriter 8/8/24U will be available shortly at an MRSP of $289.
