Epson unveils wireless-ready printers

  December 31st, 1969

Epson today announced their fastest four-colour printer available, the Stylus C80.

Capable of 20 ppm black and 10 ppm colour, the Stylus C80 prints at up to 2880x720 DPI and uses a four cartridge system for ink - consisting of one large black cartridge, one cyan, one yellow and one magenta.

The Stylus C80 features Epson's DuraBrite ink system, which allows for both water and sun resistance compared to conventional ink. Using a pigment-based ink system, the DuraBrite ink allows users to even submerge their prints in water without ink run, and 70 years of fade-resistance.

Also featured on the Stylus C80 is Epson's Resolution Performance Management (RPM) system, which improves image quality of prints by smoothing edges of low-resolution images and also vary the print resolution automatically.

Epson also has a wireless/non-wireless network compatible printer(s) dubbed Stylus C80WN and Stylus C80N respectively. With built-in networking, including 802.11b wireless in the 80WN model, the network-capable Stylus C80 printers also allow for multiple network protocol.

The Stylus C80 is priced at $179 and available today, while the C80WN will be available late September for $399, and the C80N will feature an MRSP of $349 and be available late November 2001.
