Imation Resolves DVD, CD Clutters

  June 9th, 2004

Waste no time looking for discs again, as Imation said. The company’s Australian division has a $199 USB disc organizer, called Disc Stakka, that stores up to 100 12cm DVDs and/or CDs.

The way it works is first capturing the disc content from your burners using the disc management software. Then you will be prompted to insert the disc to a pre-allocated slot determined by the Disc Stakka after getting instructions from software through USB. Should you need to retrieve any discs, simply search the software database by title, keyword, directory or file name to find and eject the disc.

Plus, this is a bus-powered device so no more power bricks to deal with, and up to five Stakkas can be stacked to create a 500 disc tower. MacOS X version of the software is in development as we speak.
