The top capacity of the Smart DiskOnKey just went up from 1GB to 2GB after M-Systems announcement. The company has not been particularly eager to roll out the most spacious flash drive, largely due to hefty price tag of the NAND memory.
Powered by the latest T5 ASIC, the $470 2GB DiskOnKey is capable to writing at 15MB/s and reading at 23MB/s - a breakthrough in speed from its category. Currently, Iomega, Kingston and Apple are reselling the T4 ASIC DiskOnkey in their private brands.
According to our record, 256MB and 512MB Hi-Speed USB flash drives are the most popular models as NAND memory price drops and as the proliferation of USB 2.0 ports in the last two years. Both factors helped to convince consumers to move on to higher capacity flash drives.
