Netgear Doubles 802.11g Speed, Triples Range

  October 26th, 2004

Netgear Doubles 802.11g Speed, Triples RangeIs your paint drying faster than your wireless backup? Netgear’s new Atheros-based 108 Mbps Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter is a small thumb-sized wireless adapter that is backwards compatible with both the 802.11 b and g standards, and delivers 108Mbps performance when used with other 108Mbps Netgear hardware, as compared to the 54Mbps provided by the 802.11g standard.

Because it has the Atheros-based XR (extended range) technology, it will connect at up to three times the distance of current 802.11g adapters. Also included in the package is a five-foot USB extension cable so you can reposition the adapter for optimal reception.
