Oakley Split Thump Reviewed, Not as Ugly as Originals

A year or so ago I was sent a set of the original Oakley Thump MP3 sunglasses. I liked them in some respects, but in others, they were not that great. The shades looked cool, but many didn’t care for the exposed controls and the bulky look of the earbuds that were always visible.

Oakley has a new set of MP3 shades that charge via USB called the Split Thump. The big change here is that the glasses visually look much more like a normal pair of shades. The ear buds are removable and the controls are hidden under the “O” on the side. Ubergizmo says they work very well, but are definitely a niche item most won’t get. The price is $246 for 512MB and $399 for 2GB.
