Optimus Maximus Keyboard Finally Ready for the Real World

A long, long time ago the guys at Art Lebedev Studio’s teased us all with a glimpse of their Optimus Maximus keyboard with OLED screens for each key top. Then the reality set in that they couldn’t quite pull the actual product off. Lots of time goes by, making it one of the biggest pieces of vaporware ever seen by geekdom, and now finally the keyboard is ready for purchase. In a bit over a day and a half at the time of this writing you can pre-order your own Optimus Maximus keyboard for the low, low cost of around $1500 if rumors hold true. We won’t know the final specs and pricing for the keyboard until May 20th at 3pm Moscow time when pre-orders start and specs are revealed. Production is scheduled to start in December of 2007, with 20 keyboards being the target number, with 200 more at the end of the same month and 400 keyboards in January of 2008.
