Oxford Semiconductor is first to market with a USB/FireWire dual SATA storage controller featuring an embedded encryption engine. The new controller will allow external storage vendors to provide storage solutions that are not only fast, but secure as well.
Using hardware level encryption you still get a fast data transfer rate of 80Mbytes/sec. The real time encryption standard is AES and supports token, software password and biometric authentication methods. The controller card also supports RAID 0 and RAID 1 for the SATA disks. Up to four drives can be supported in spanning and stripping mode.
The embedded FireWire interface sports a super fast 800Mbits/sec interface with the high speed USB 2.0 interface clocking in at 480Mbits/sec. The interface is also compatible with USB 1.1 and has an 18Kbyte data cache.
