Panasonic Lumix FP8 - Form & Function Meet Then Go Back to Her Place

Panasonic has dropped another ultra-compact digital camera ready to be snapped up by fans of fashionable and high performance tech gear. The Lumix FP8 oozes cool with an sleek metallic finish with several color choices. A bevvy of blue backlit controls in a finger friendly layout adorn the reverse. With a 12.1 MegaPixel sensor images are recorded through the 28-128mm Leica lens. Video can also be captured up to an impressive 720p resolution at 30fps. All this is available less than 1 second from hitting the power button. There's only 40 MB of onboard memory which is more of a cache and used as a staging area for pictures as they are moved to the memory card. This is to support the 10 frame per second burst mode the FP8 can produce which is great for sports photos. You'll definitely want to pair this beast with a healthy SD card.

The camera's body is designed to be eye-catching but there's more to see under the hood. Panasonic has improved on their cream-of-the-crop image stabilization system. Mega O.I.S. has become POWER O.I.S. and promises twice the low light and movement compensation to keep you from blurring that precious moment. The Lumix series has arguably carried the mantle of best image stabilization for some time now. Even as the playing field gets more level you can still be sure of a worthwhile product. MSRP is set at $299 and should be available in September.
