Pinnacle USB H.264 Video Transfer (No PC Required)

  January 5th, 2008

Filed under USB Video Capture & USB Video Cards

Pinnacle has debuted a hassle-free video transfer device that records analog video from TV, DVD or camcorder directly onto USB storage, iPod or PSP. This gadget doesn't involve any PCs so it saves your CPUs from the chore of H.264 video conversions. Video is captured in only 720x480/576 (NTSC/PAL) but you can select the quality for the recordings (Good, Better or Best). We suppose this setting is responsible for adjusting the video bit-rate. S-Video is apparently the best connection the Video Transfer offers, so don't expect the video quality to be stellar. Last but not least is the ability to recharge iPod or PSP slim during transfer. This gadget priced at $129 isn't cheap for what it does. H.264 hardware accelerators are out there that are likely to yield better results except you need a PC for those.
