PX-TV100U = Low-cost USB PVR from Plextor

Plextor has announced the $99 ConvertX PX-TV100U Personal Video Recorder, the company's second USB TV following the hardware-based ConvertX PVR PX-TV402U. The PX-TV100U is a complete solution for watching, pausing and recording live TV on a PC.

The Plextor PX-TV100U is a USB 2.0 external component into which you connect your cable, satellite or antenna. You then simply install the software and have fun. It uses uses high quality real-time video compression software to record TV programs to hard disk, CD, or DVD in several of the most popular video formats, including MPEG-1/VCD, MPEG-2/DVD, or DivX video. The PX-TV100U can also capture home movies and other video from a camcorder, VCR, or DVD player through composite and S-video connections.

The Plextor comes bundled with SageTV Lite software for the PVR functions and ULead Video Studio SE DVD. SageTV Lite includes a free 3-day integrated Electronic Programming Guide (EPG) so users always know what is on TV and can easily select upcoming programs to record.
