World's Smallest Bus-powered DVD Writer from Plextor

  August 23rd, 2006

World's Smallest Bus-powered DVD Writer from PlextorNot so long ago if you bought a portable external DVD drive not only was it still fairly large, but you needed to find an AC outlet to be able to use it. Finding that outlet is not always easy to do if you're the mobile type in a strange city. Plextor is addressing both major concerns buyers of portable DVD drives have, size and power.

Plextor's new PX-608CU DVD writer is exactly what mobile types are looking for in a DVD drive, small and completely bus powered. Bus powered means that all you need to do is connect the DVD writer to your USB port, no external power adapters are needed. The svelte drive measures in at 137.1mm x 143.1mm x 15.9mm and weighs only 250g. Write speeds are 4x DVD+/-R DL; 8x DVD+/-R; 8x DVD+RW; 6x DVD-RW and 5x DVD-RAM. The drive consumes a miserly 4.8W during DVD-r 8x writing.
