Plextor Releases Bus-Powered DL DVD BurnerPlextor, one of the more reputable drive manufacturers has finally created a true portable DVD burner of its own that doesn't require a power adapter or weigh as much as a sack of oranges. The PX-608U, despite its 22.2mm thickness is feature packed, offering adequate burning speeds, DVD-RAM support, and dual layer recording.

The 450-gram drive writes dual layer DVDs at 4X, DVD±R/W at 8x, DVD-RAM at 5x, and CD-R/RW at 24x. DVDs read at 8x and CD-ROM at 24x. Bundled software is said to include Nero Express 6 SE, a light suite of Pinnacle utilities, and Plextor Pro Plextols.

Plextor PR has informed us that their portable PX-608U does indeed require a AC adapter. Sorry for getting your hopes up.
