PogoPlug is one of those devices that's relative anonymity is perplexing. If this latest version doesn't send people frantically hitting the order button, we will lose all hope for humanity. Their latest, the
Series 4 Edition, adds USB 3.0 to an already fantastic combination of features. With PogoPlug can allow Internet access to (and manage) all the home movies, pictures and video that you care to plug into it. With 2 USB 3.0 ports, 1 SATA for
Seagate GoFlex Portable and 1 top mounted USB 2.0 plug, any drives connected is instantly accessible from your free web account. It will even do DLNA streaming to Media Centers as well as the PS3 and XBox 360. There's also an SD card slot. Pop your camera's SD memory into the PogoPlug and then later sort, tag, share and Facebook your photos and videos from anywhere with an Internet connection.
While we're always pleased with the addition of
USB 3.0 anything, most people will be more excited about the Apple integration features. Use of the iPhone app enables easy upload of photos and videos to your personal cloud. This easy option to free up space on your iDevice via Wi-Fi or cellular data should entice anyone looking for options other than iCloud. The device can even travel if you like as long as you can get Ethernet Internet access your content should be readily available to your account. At only $99 dollars, it seems too good to be true but all of the previous generations have met with good reviews.
