RICAVision VAVE 100 - First Windows SideShow Remote Soon to be Available
January 9th, 2008Filed under Remote Controls
For those of you that haven't heard of Windows SideShow (don't feel bad, I hadn't either till this), it looks to be a promising feature of Vista. Essentially SideShow allows some devices to access your PC through gadgets and display information on some sort of remote device. Think of it like a PDA that connects to your computer via some form of wireless and do things such as read email, listen to music, or even browse photos. With that being said, Ricavision has been working on a SideShow remote for some time and it looks like they have finally moved from the reference design to a production model called the VAVE 100 Universal Remote. It has the ability to control over 20 different entertainment devices, has a 2.4" color LCD, and connects to your PC via Bluetooth. Imagine being able to watch TV from your media center while browsing the program guide or checking the email from your remote without interrupting a thing. The only downside seems to be that the device is only capable of upgrading via the PC, but isn't programmable. As soon as it gets the FCC's blessing it will start shipping, but preorders are currently being taken.
