Safend & Sandisk Teams up on USB Security

  February 15th, 2006

Safend and Sandisk say today they are joining force on beefing up the security of USB flash drives. While the partnership deal isn't exactly clear, it has something to do with SanDisk's TrustedFlash platform that combines a 32-bit controller architecture with cryptographic engine, providing real-time encryption and tamper-resistant protection.

Supposedly, files backed up to the TrustFlash USB drives won't be so easily extracted to an unauthorized system. That's how we see it. TrustFlash was announced by Sandisk last September mainly to enter the gigantic DRM market. Currently, compliant products include Sandisk's miniSD and SD. TrustFlash Cruzers should hit the market within the year.
