Verizon's EVDO Rev A USB Modem Needing Just One USB Port

Today Verizon released a new USB EVDO Rev A modem called the Verizon Wireless AirCard 595U USB Modem from Sierra Wireless. The new modem is a step up from other USB EVDO modems on the market because it only requires one USB port.

Many USB modems need two USB ports to get enough power to operate at full speed. The 595U uses one USB port along with an internal, removable lithium ion battery for a power boost. The modem has an external antenna connector and LEDs to show when the modem has service. Also included is a USB desktop cradle. The AirCard 595U is available now for $179.99 after mail in rebate with a 2-year contract. Download speeds are up to 1.4 Mbps and upload speeds are up to 800 Kbps. The modem is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, and Vista.
