Sony W260 Sports Walkman, an All Weather MP3 Player
With the release of the all new NWZ-W260, Sony has finally revived the Walkman brand and restored its place in the order of things. The original Walkman's were rugged - if large - cassette tape players that were meant for walkers, joggers and all round exercise enjoying people. While over the years updates on the iconoclastic Walkman have trickled on to the market, none really were able to recapture the glory of the original. The all new NWZ-W260 Sports Walkman may just indeed do that. You see today's gym goers, and joggers (just to name a few potential customer niches) don't want to be laden down with smartphones. Apple realized this a few years ago and really honed their iPod nano to be the perfect companion, and it seems Sony has finally caught on to the idea; or better to say have taken this idea to its logical conclusion. You see, even with the itty-bitty nano, there is still a separate device you need to plug your headphones into and secure somewhere on your person. Compare and contrast that with the Walkman NWZ-W260 which builds the player right into the ear buds and you will instantly realize the genius of this design. We are sure that if the player's hardware is as good in execution as it is an idea, this 8 hour runtime capable player will sure gain a loyal - maybe even cult - following... draconian DRM or no. Expect the Walkman NWZ-W260 to land sometime in July with a 2GB version going for $59.99 and a 4GB version going for $79.99.
