Sony Rolls USB Power Adapter, Portable Power and Battery Charger in One

  March 1st, 2007

Sony is announcing a new Energy Link USB Portable Power Supply and Adapter that can power USB devices on the go. The device uses two AA rechargeable Cycle Energy batteries Sony claims bridge the gap between regular alkaline batteries and NiMh rechargeable. The device is supposed to be able to recharge the batteries completely in three hours. Sony’s device is claimed to be the first device to combine three uses including a power adapter, portable power supply and battery charger. No firm idea of run time for the adapter and batteries is given by Sony other than to say it will give hours of play time. I don’t know about you, but none of the electronic devices I use will run on only two AA batteries. Seems Sony would have been better served to make the device larger and include four AA batteries inside. At least then I could use the USB rechargable batteries for my digital camera.
