Sony Ericsson Unveils USB 3.5G HSDPA Modem

Sony Ericsson announced its first USB 3G USB modem called the MD300. The device has all the software you need pre-installed and 128MB on on-board memory is usable when the device is plugged in. The built-in software and drivers are for Windows only.

The USB device only requires one USB port; some other USB modems require two USB ports to get enough power to operate. Sony says the MD300 will work on HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE, or GPRS networks anywhere in the world. Also included is a PlayNow button that offers one touch access to the PlayNow mobile entertainment network from Sony Ericsson. Two colors will be available including luxury black and metallic silver. The device should be available in Q1 2008. Maximum download speed is 3.6Mbps and Mac OS X is supported.
