  April 11th, 2006

Novatel & Sprint Debut EVDO USB ModemsNovatel and Sprint have teamed up to bring a USB EVDO modem to store shelves. This is a great announcement for laptop users that prefer models not sporting a PCMCIA slot or desktop users wanting a EVDO modem. All you need is a system with a vacant USB port to use this new EVDO modem.

The Novatel part number for this modem is MCD3000 and the Sprint part will be called the Sprint USB720. The modems are compatible with Windows and Mac OS X. Modem features are USB 2.0 connectivity, windows and Mac OS X drivers and they are an EVDO Rev A Device. The modems can attach directly to a USB port or via a USB cable. EVDOinfo says that you can improve your speeds by as much as three Dbi by using a USB extension cable. The devices are slated for availability later this year.
