Thinstall Makes Your Own Portable USB Apps

Virtualization is arguably the wave of the future. Whether it's for servers, desktops, or applications, they can come in very handy and help you make use of your hardware and/or software to the fullest extent. It looks like the guys over at Thinstall are able to cater to your complete virtualization needs.

The Thinstall Virtualization Suite has seems to be able to provide functionality for everyone from the System Admin with its ability to create MSI files to the average desktop user with the desire for portable applications. I've been playing with it a little over the last week and now have a portable version of Office 2007 that runs completely from my flash drive. Nothing to install, no admin rights need, and no traces of anything left behind. Sweet. Programs act very similar to the U3 software, except it doesn't take forever when you plug your drive in and the only time you know anything is different is the pop up in the system tray that says it's launching.

Now with that working, just think about the possibilities. Do you carry a laptop around just so you can have your own applications always available, even though you always have a desktop wherever you go? Instead of lugging that laptop all over the place you could be carrying around a single 16GB drive with Office, Photoshop, and all of your other favorite applications right at your fingertips. Pretty cool eh?
