Trek USB ThumbDrive TV Hybrid

  July 20th, 2006

Trek USB ThumbDrive TV HybridTrek has married flash drive and DVB-T digital TV tuner together in a USB dongle form factor. This may seem as a weird combo if you ask me as each function has its own application that doesn't exactly benefit from the other. Trek's idea to put a flash storage is actually to do away the installation CD by storing the tuner program inside the drive.

CNET Asia has reviewed this tuner which is currently available in Singapore. Being a DVB-T device, only our British audience may find this of any interest. One caveat is that the TV tuner and the mass storage can only operate exclusively so you can have the program save MPEG-2 stream into the flash drive. The swivel antenna is somewhat a disappointing. A MPEG-4 HD version is slated to debut in September.
