Batteries that Recharge via USB Port

  September 20th, 2006

I have so many gadgets in my house that it is hard to find a wall plug to charge them with. Typically the first thing to get ousted form the AC outlet is the battery recharger for my digital cam and the kids' toys. USBcell is looking to change that for us by allowing AA batteries to directly recharge via your computers USB port. When I say directly, I mean directly, we are not talking about a USB battery charger here. You simply take the AA batteries flip the top "+" cap back to reveal the USB connector we all know and love. Currently the batteries are available in AA style only, but plans for a AAA, 9v and maybe even cell phone batteries are in the works. The manufacturer is from the UK, no word on if the batteries are available in the states. A pair of the AA size is listed at a $25 MSRP.
