DON'T MISS
USB-IF has renewed interest in USB OTG with the latest v1.3 specs. The revised standard has officially retired some mini-series cables and connectors in favor of the new micro-series for all OTG designs. The mini-USB B connectors are commonly found on all sorts of peripherals and electronics due to their compact footprint. As the standard female-B takes up too much space, you would probably find it on printers and the larger USB hubs. The ones removed from USB-IF certification are Mini-A receptacle, Mini-AB receptacle and Mini-A plug. Replacing these are as follows: the standard-A plug to Micro-B plug that connects Micro-B or Micro-AB peripherals to PCs; Micro-A plug to standard-A receptacle; Micro-A plug to Micro-B plug for direct interconnection among OTG products; and lastly, hard-wired captive cable with Micro-A plug that supports roll-up keyboards and more.
