  July 7th, 2006

If you are a server admin or need to monitor the temperature in a room or area to keep it within limits, this will be an interesting product for you. Plug this USB powered temperature probe into the USB port of a computer int eh area you wish to monitor and you are set.

Media Laboratory calls the device the USB Thermometer and it is compatible with both Windows and Linux. The thermometer is scheduled for July 21st launch at a price of 9,800 yen. The temperatures the device records are charted graphically to the included software. From the images it appears that the device is about the size and shape of a flash drive, but sans outer casing. Sounds like an easy way to monitor the temperature in your server room.
