Vodafone wants to deliver the fastest wireless Internet to the Brits this holiday season. The UK cellphone carrier has just launched an upgraded 3.5G USB modem that tops at 7.2Mbps. You can get the modem at a discounted rate of £49 on 18-month contract and 99 on 12-month contract; both monthly plans start from £25 a month with only 200MB traffic allowance. To stay out of the contract, you can purchase the device for £170. A 24-hour period of what seems to be unlimited traffic costs £8.5 a day. The pebble-shaped unit is designed and manufactured by Huawei that has been the supplier of the 3.5Mbps USB modem for about a year now. Hong Kong Vodafone is also carrying the same modem with a unlimited data plan for £31 a month. As far as we know, 7.2Mbps coverage is already available city-wide.
