Western Digital Adds 750GB and 1.5TB My Book Externals

Western Digital has added new external drives to their My Book family with a 1.5TB and 750GB varieties. With triple interface options of USB, Firewire 400, and Firewire 800, you can choose what best suits your needs. The new 1TB and 750GB capacities are available now at select retail stores and online retainers. Pricing for the drives is not specified, but we can expect them to come in at the end of the current price range of $279 to $699 with the possibility of the 1.5TB unit going over the $699 price, no exact pricing was noted at the time of this writing. The 750GB version will go head-to-head against the Seagate FreeAgent Pro, while the 1.5TB version will consist of two of the WD 750GB drives in RAID configuration for 750GB of mirrored data or 1.5TB of spanned data.
