Windows Vista Gets no Native WUSB Support

  July 27th, 2006

It seems all we hear these days concerning Windows Vista is bad. Now reports are coming in that Vista will not natively support wireless USB. It seems the more I hear about Windows Vista, the less likely I am to upgrade to it. We can only hope that the final version of Vista will be more than it is today.

According to TGdaily the lack of native Certified Wireless USB support isn't the death bell for the standard. If you think back to Bluetooth and Windows XP, XP had no native support for Bluetooth. However, Microsoft implemented it in a service pack update. Perhaps with Vista, that is the route they'll take as well. We may also see manufacturers of wireless USB devices bring to market their own drivers for Windows Vista. That is if they're inclined to jump through all of the hoops required for the drivers to be Microsoft certified. I hear in Vista all drivers will require Microsoft certification, whereas non-certified drivers can be installed on XP systems.
