Yoggie Pico, Better than the Average Firewall?

  May 31st, 2007

DON'T MISS

It never ceases to be humorous to me that securing Windows often requires another operating system to be used. Yoggie Security Systems has a complete hardware firewall for Windows that they have built into a USB flash drive size form. The device is called the Yoggie Pico and runs Linux 2.6 with 13 security applications on a 520MHz PXA270 Intel processor inside the USB stick. The device connects to your PC via USB and allows you to use the firewall on any network from wired to wireless and dial-up. Currently the device is for Windows only, but drivers are planned for Linux and Mac OS X. Since the traffic from the network isn’t moving through the firewall hardware like a normal network attached device, drivers route all traffic from the network through USB. Availability is set for the first week of June with pricing at $180 including a year of updates.
