If you are like many gaming enthusiasts, the phrase ”pics or didn’t happen” doesn’t go far enough and it is only real if you have video to prove that perfect moment of ‘pawnage’ actually happened. For PC enthusiasts, there are plenty of free software programs that can give you that bragging rights footage, but for XBox One, PS4 and even PCs that can’t handle the overhead, the all new Hauppauge HD PVR Rocket can help keep your ‘honor’ intact.
In a nut shell, the HD PVR Rocket is a 4.3 oz. pocket-sized recording device which requires no CPU cycles as it captures audio and HD video and records directly it to a USB drive. Hauppauge estimates that a 16GB flash drive has enough storage for about 4 hours of 1080p video. Better still, the HD PVR Rocket also provides an additional microphone port and can record a custom commentary track – in real time – to go along with the gameplay video.
Hauppauge even includes a volume control so your custom voiceover doesn’t drown out the cries of rage from your virtual victims. Though the real cherry on the top is that the Hauppauge Capture application which makes uploading to YouTube and the like as simple as a mouse click. The only catch to this HD PVR Rocket is that it will set you back $169 which is in line with offerings from Elgato and Diamond.
