Microsoft Ultimate Keyboard

  June 30th, 2006

Microsoft has a keyboard they are calling "The Ultimate Keyboard". Well I am not sure if it is the ultimate keyboard, but it does sound interesting. Wireless and backlit is a first so far as I know and if you can stand a froo-froo flash presentation on the Microsoft site, it has some fairly interesting features.

The Ultimate Keyboard and mouse (yes there is a mouse) is wireless with a 30 foot range. The backlit keys come on automatically in a dim room and turn themselves off when you leave the room. So says the flash teaser anyway. I suspect that it has a motion sensor inside that can tell when it has not moved for a while. The design looks a bit Darth Vaderish as well as reminding me a bit of the Stealth bomber at the same time. It also appears as though there is a gray and white version in addition to the black. No mention of price or availability on the Microsoft site.
