DXT Precision Mouse, Precisely What the Doctor Ordered for Your Wrist Relief
While we love comfort and good health, to many of us, the idea of switching from our standard computer peripherals to more ergonomic versions isn't appealing. The DXT Precision Mouse is a new slant (pun intended) on the venerable mouse. Their new Precision Mouse is a more flexible version of the vertical mouse which has a decent following in the Ergonomics business. While there are keyboards, mice and even chairs that are purported to take the load off your wrists, some of them are so alien that you would have to spend too much time relearning how to use one. Spend 5 minutes watching your parents use a computer and ask yourself if you could go back. The Precision Mouse is shaped so that your hand rests at a more natural angle. Their promo video even likens its control to holding a pen or pencil. One of the many drawbacks of ergo mice is that they are never available for lefties, they are usually heavily customized for righties. The Precision is both a Left Handed mouse as much as for right-handers. A flip of a switch converts the R/L hand orientation so you can switch hands quickly if you want a change. It's perfectly symmetrical when reversed making it the only comfortable switch hitter we've ever seen. It's also sensitive enough to even be appreciated by gamers. Although with only 2 buttons and a scroll wheel, this is definitely for more traditional mousing. It's available online for roughly $130, unfortunately on par with the steeper prices for uniquely functional mice. If your wrist is cramping or you already have had a taste of RSI, you're probably already checking out. Video demo after the jump.
