Verbatim Expands U3 Drive to 4GB

  January 13th, 2006

U3 really took off. A bunch of high-profile manufacturers (except Lexar, which has their own PowerToGo) jumped onboard, and started putting together smart drives bundled with portable apps. It's never been a better time for developers like John Haller. But as your U3 apps start piling up, you may need a larger U3 drive like the 4GB Verbatim offers.

The Verbatim Store 'n Go U3 has a whooping capacity of 4GB (for a flash drive, it's close to jaw-dropping) at a not-so-encouraging $60 per GB. The only other U3 drive that matches the Verbatim's capacity is from SanDisk, a U3 founding company. Comparatively, the SanDisk has a retractable USB connector and gives out Skype.

The company has apparently secured a deal with McAfee to provide them with an exclusive U3 Anti-Virus. Other bundled titles, like Migo and Thunderbird are available to all on U3 software central.
