Convert Vinyl with Ion's Turntable USB

  December 6th, 2005

Convert Vinyl with Ion's Turntable USBIt'd be pretty awkward seeing someone with a backpack sized Walkman, but if all your old music is on vinyl, that's practically the only way you're gonna get in your daily dose of Led Zeppelin unless you're willing to convert it to the oops-I-degaussed-it cassette tape or not-another-scratch CD. Ion's doing you one better, and has a nifty solution for digitizing your record collection into MP3 with the Turntable USB.

True, you could just take the old phonograph and plug it into your computer's line in port to record, but where's the fun in that? Besides, the iTTUSB has a ±8% pitch adjustment and works with both 33 and 45 speed records. Acting as an ordinary USB audio device, the Turntable USB does not require drivers, and it comes with Audacity for cross-platform editing and a 30-day trial of SoundSoap 2 for cleaning the record up. Ion gave this one a MSRP of $199, but Amazon is taking pre-orders for $140.
