Warelex's Mobiola Turns Symbian Phones into USB Webcams

  March 5th, 2007

DON'T MISS

It's difficulty to justify buying a $800 Nokia N93, but if I tell you the phone can double as a high-quality desktop vidcam (even better than the $100 Logitech Ultra QuickCam), does it make you feel any better? Maybe. Warelex's Mobiola Web Camera can turn a Symbian smartphone into a USB webcam. The software comprises of two components: a client app that resides on the phone and a driver that installs on a Windows platform. With everything set to go, you can start sending live feed to IM client of your choice and even video services like YouTube, MySpace and Grouper. As of this writing, the Mobiola weighs at 3MB, and supports USB mode on Nokia phones, including 3250, 5500, E50, E70, N71, N73, N80, N91, N92, N93 and N95. The severely limited trial version restricts connections to 5 mins and lasts just one week.
