  September 29th, 2006

WE RECOMMEND
Bose Companion 5 'True USB' Surround 2.1 Set

Bose makes some really good speakers and home theater system, that are all undeniably expensive. The new Companion 5 speaker system uses all the Bose tricks for sound quality and carries the price tag you expect form Bose as well. At an MSRP of $399 for the three piece 2.1 speaker set, they had better sound really good. Connecting the entire set requires only one USB plug, similar to the Altec Lansing FX5051. That means no sound card is required, which is nice. Bose tries to bring 5.1 sound quality to a 2.1 speaker set via their TrueSpace tech. To control the entire system you use an all-in-one controller pod that does mute, volume and houses jacks for headphones and auxiliary input.
