"Lacks motion sensor recording" I read that this product did motion sensor recording, but It seems that they must have changed the software (from image suite (full) to roxio video editor or something (limited trial)!
It is still a good camera but I could have bought a cheaper one!
The picture and video are not as good as most reviewers say for me! Maybe it is because my pc is not top of the range. From Lee Paxton, February 06, 2004
"This is NOT a USB 2.0 device!" Everythingusb.com's specs are in error: this is NOT a USB 2.0 device! It is a USB 1.1 device.
That said, this webcam is respectable. However, for around the same price, I think the Creative Labs Webcam Pro eX is better--better color, better sensitivity in low light, and a nice clip-on base for laptops. From Richard Eng, July 23, 2003
"terrible purchase" the software doesn't install from CD, had to copy to hard drive. it keeps asking for kstvtune.ax which doesn't exist in XP. Phoned supprt 4 times with little or no help. £80 pounds that I could have put to better use and I will NOT be purchasing any logitech equipment again From Conn McKay, February 07, 2003
"Yea!! and GEEZ!!" Well, I think logitech has monkeys working for it's testing lab. BUT!! as for the camera setup it was painless. CD+USB+plugin=camera on
BUT!!! you need both hands to hold it to use the focus knob. I had to break out my small screw driver to tighten the friction part of the base that holds the ball. Mine wouldn't stay on by itself. I would think after the 3000 model they would have taken that design and tossed it out of the window. I don't use IM's so I don't know about any of the software except for the webcam. They should have made it a choice of asp or java script so people can place it on their own page. I didn't like that it would put it on a pay site.
I just don't know how a big company like logitech can make something so so-so. Some parts are great and some things are terrible. I rate it 6 out of 10 jalapenos. From john, December 02, 2002
"Horribly Designed Hardware" The software aspect of this kit is just superb, it permits the average joe do to just about anything with his/her webcam.
I'm not convinced that the 640x480 resolution is as sharp is it should be though, megapixel is simulated via software (I'm pretty sure of that).
As for the camera itself, the focus ring has no grab to it, very hard to adjust focus, that being said the camera will most probably pop out of it's stand while adjust it, only to find it bouncing off of the floor.
Software: Great!
Physical design: Poor!
Quality: High enough.
As for the camera itself From Marc Champagne, November 21, 2002
"Get a 3Com homeconnect camera instead." Get a 3Com homeconnect camera instead. This vile piece of garbage has a problem focusing on outdoor images from a window. Even inside shots are a pain to focus. The crappy stand makes it almost impossible for the camera to be moved without it falling off. Just turning the awful focus ring requires you hold the camera with both hands so it doesn't accidently fall off the silly stand. Forget the digital zoom, It just exagerates the fuzziness of the picture.
For those of you who still want to buy this POS camera.. DON'T!!! you'll be sorry:) I currently have an Intel pro pc camera (which is far better than the Logitech) but I am awaiting the arrival of my 3com homeconnect camera which is rated highly..only catch is, the camera has been discontinued... but many are available brand new still in the box on EBAY for less than a hundred bucks. I even got the telephoto, closeup and wide angle camera lens pack.
Consider yourself warned:) From Giovanni, September 24, 2002
