In a perfect world, 3G gaming would be the de-facto standard by now, but the reality is the cost of getting a 3D setup can be daunting. This is compounded by the fact that not everyone is sold on the long term viability of this round of 3D (and the headaches the glass free iteration can bring to many people). People have long memories and we all remember the failure which was the last "3D" fad and the headaches associated with them. With that being said, many people would be more willing to risk it, if the investment was not too steep. This is why everyone applauds when NVIDIA will be releasing a $99 USB wired
3D Vision glasses.
Yes, wired certainly is not as nice as wireless, but with the Wired 3D Vision glasses' 10-foot USB 2.0 cable, this should be enough for most PC 3D gaming needs. It still is too short for 3D movies in your living room, but seriously how many 3D movies are out there that are worth that kind of investment. Compare and contrast that with the plethora of games this pair of sub-$100 geeky glasses will support and you can see that this is may help entice people to give it a try. And by making it wired, it should weigh less than most wireless active 3D glass as there are no batteries to weigh it down (and no worries about them going dead in the middle of a gaming marathon). Maybe, just maybe by going back to their wired roots, NVIDIA will help speed up the adoption of 3D on PC gaming. Expect the wired version of the 3D Vision glasses to land sometime in. Now if they can only make a 3D gaming monitor which was just as cheap as a "non 3D capable" monitor and we would be set.
