We have talked about numerous USB powered desk gadgets in the past, but if you are like me you probably can’t bring yourself to spend hard earned cash for such junk. A guy has put a couple videos up over at 5min showing industrious types how to build a couple reasonably cool USB gadgets. You can watch the video how-to for building your own USB powered lamp and the video how-to for building your own USB fan. The USB lamp looks harmless enough, but the fan concerns me a bit. It is made using cut sections of a CD for the fan blades. I would hate to trust super glue to hold whirling shards of plastic close to my face. One bad bit of gluing and you could lose an eye. Video after the jump.
